About W4HOD

Welcome to the internet home of the Heart of Dixie ARS – W4HOD.

For DX, Contesting, Antennas, Technology and FUN, HODARS is THE club in East Alabama.

Heart of Dixie ARS is a small active club. We were founded in 2007. We have about 12 members who enjoy RTTY, CW and SSB contesting; chasing DX, WSPR station, antennas and technology. We have a very nice club station courtesy of several of our members. The station is located at the QTH of one of our members.

Thanks to a generous benefactor, we were given a mobile operations van this year. It is fully equipped with generator, racks, etc. We are in progress of getting it ready to operate in the coming months.

We do not have a rigid meeting schedule, but try to meet monthly. We meet at 7 pm on the second Wednesday at the East Alabama Medical Center in Classroom B. EAMC is located at 2000 Pepperell Parkway in Opelika, AL. Prior to the meeting, we usually meet for supper at a local restaurant at 6 pm.

All hams of good will, who have an interest in learning are welcome to join us. Yearly dues are $24, or prorated at $2 per month if joining after January. HODARS is a very informal club. We have no applications to fill out or voting on membership. We don’t keep minutes and only discuss business when the need arises. We like to keep things simple.

If you hear W4HOD on the bands, please stop by and say hello.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or comments, or to subscribe to our email reflector.
